With an election in the United States at hand, major question has been asked to each candidate, (John McCain Rep., Hilary Clinton and Barrack Obama Dem.) and about their plans to provide an answer. One question that is often neglected to be asked is what are plans to stop genocide in Darfur.
In united states history, there is a tendency to neglect major issues around the world because there are no beneficial purpose in intervening instead they go to places such as Iraq were nothing major was needed to be done. Some may say that going to Iraq was a good idea and even if no weapons of mass destruction was found, the country was freed from an evil dictator named Saddam Hussein. My response to that statement is, other countries of the world such as Nigeria, which had an evil dictator named Sani Abacha, was left without any help. America never intervened with the problem because there was nothing of beneficial purpose. This is also similar to the problem that darfurians are facing and yet the united states are not doing much to aid the darfurians. As the new president will come to power I await to see what he or she does in other to aid the darfurians ongoing genocide.

Very interesting topic, and it's hard to be politically correct 100% of the time so excuse me if I'm not. The situation in Darfur has no easy fix. I constantly hear about campaigns raising money to save Darfur. Throwing money at them will not solve the problem. At the same time however, it is NOT and ever will be a responsibility of the United States to intervene. The purpose of the United States is NOT to police the world. Just as we should not have intervened in the Middle East. Now, I'm not saying we can't help with negotiations; but expecting US troops to break up a genocide is not their duty. Just as it is not their duty to be fighting in Iraq so that a few people in America will have control of the oil. The purpose of our military is to defend our country, not to "flex our muscle" and show the rest of the world how tough we are. That is precisely why Americans are hated all over the world. This showboating is also the reason that we are so deep in debt. It's obvious that our priorities are out of whack, and hopefully the next elected president will be able to bring our troops home from ALL over the world, not just Iraq.
The argument against me is probably going to sound like this: "We are the wealthiest nation in the world, it's our duty as such to help the less fortunate" Well, not necessarily true actually. We are so deep in debt that we're now borrowing from China, we can't balance our budget and until we can sort things out domestically, we don't belong anywhere else in the world. If we continue spending like we are, we're going to be bankrupted before we know it.
I think you have a good topic, but the layout of the post is confusing. A lot of people are interested in the ongoing election, so it is a popular topic to post and comment about. I think you would have gotten more comments if the writing wasn't as confusing. I didn't really know what your point was the first time I read it. If you wanted to put this in your paper I would suggest proofreading it to make sure your point is clear and concise. Overall I think this is a good topic, but the way you presented it just needs some work.
Your post brings up a vey good point that had not even crossed my mind. Sure I know about all the problems going on around the country in places such as Darfur and the problem with AIDS and starvation in Africa, but you made me think deeply about this idea. Why are we fighting a stupid war in Iraq for the benefit of no one whien thousands of people are dying all over the world and our help could benefit them much more than the thousands of lives being lost due to war. It is important to find topics that are close to your heart when you are discovering how to eb a good writer.
Great discussion. It's true, Audacious Mind has important issues on his mind, but this post needs editing and proofreading.
And the war in Iraq is costing not only our soldiers' lives but the lives of innocent Iraqi civilians. So war must be a last resort in solving problems.
